Default Need tire rec for '01 RX 300

I'm not very impressed by the OEM Bridgestone Duellers the car came with. 32k miles and I need to replace them.

I'm looking for a good performing tire that will see some snow (I live in CT and the car has AWD). I would also like them to last longer than 30k miles.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Also, has anyone gone from a 225/70 series tire to a 225/60 series on the stock rims?

Default 2 Good choices

The 2 best choices for the RX300 are the Michelin Cross Terrain SUV or the Bridgestone Dueler HL (Not HT). Both have a 60K tread life warranty and both have excellent traction and ride quality. Unfortunately, there is no better size to run on the stock 16 inch wheels.

Michelin Cross Terrain SUV

Dueler HL

something to note...Michelin's although a great tire will rub on your struts and eventually create an unsafe situtuation by wearing through the inner sidewall of the tire.........it will wear more in the rear than in the front.... just FIY

What are you talking about? Where do you get this info? We've had 2 sets of Michelins on our RX300 - zero problems. EXCELLENT tires. We had Michelin Symmetry before and Michelin Cross Terrains now.

I currently am a tech in the service dept of a Lexus dealer.....the cross terrains are the tires I am referring to that rub on the struts , especially in the rear,,,,,,if you don't want take my word for it ...go crawl under your car and look for yourself....

Default Hmm...

225/70 16 is the stock size for an RX300. Assuming the vehicle is not modified and the wheels are the correct offset, 225/70 16 Michelin Cross terrain SUV works on the RX300 all day long, every day with no rubbing. Possibly the vehicle you were looking at Tech had a different size tire or wheel? In fact the X terrain has a slightly narrower section width then both the stock GY and BS tire. Any tire made in this size by any major manufacturer that I'm aware of works on the vehicle with no rubbing. Hope this clears up some confusion.
