Default 18's on SC300 fitment question

Ok,

1995 SC300

18 x 8.5 with 38mm offset

What's the widest tire I can run?

I know a 265/35/18 will work, but what about a 275/35/18 or 285/35/18 or 295/35/18?

I'm planning to run a 18 x 7.5 in the front with 45mm offset. I believe 50mm is the factory offset. With the rear wheels, should I run a 5mm spacer to correct the offset to 43mm so that it more closely matches the 45mm on the front? And what impact if any would this have on tire fitment on the rear?

Thanks in advance.

Default Offset and tire size.

Running a 5 mm spacer would not increase the offset but would decrease the offset to 33mm. The lower the offset the farther the wheel is pushed out from the hub. You will most likely rub if you run anything larger then the 265 size on the rear.

Ok,....I'll probably end up with the 265/35 in the rear on the 8.5" wheel with no spacer.

On the front, would the 7.5' wheel with a 245/40/18 work good? This is an OD of about 25.7 which is dead on the factory OD, so should be no issues with the ABS, and the 265/35 on the rear is only 1.71% difference so it shouldn't affect the speedo much.

I guess my only pending questions is if a 245 will work up front on a 7.5" wheel with 45mm spacing, and if so, would the 45mm to 38mm offset difference front to rear be noticeable enough that it would be better for me to run a 5mm spacer on the front to drop it down to 40mm on the front and 38mm on the rear.

I apologize for all the BS questions, but more than likely my BMW will be sold this weekend, so I'll be looking to order wheels/tires Monday.

Thanks in advance.
