Default 2003 GS430 Road Noise

I just returned from a driving vacation, Tennessee to California. The road noise was terrible. I am going to replace the OEM 17" Bridgestone's. I'm looking at 3 tires.
1. Kumho ECSTA KH11 or Supra 712.
2. Dunlap SP Sport 5000.
3. Yokohoma AVS Sport or DB's.
Please give me some advise. A quite ride is my main goal.
Best Regards........Bob.

if your only goal is a quiet ride, look into the bridgestone turanza LS-Z. its a touring tire but has a Z speed rating and is available in the 235/45/17 size. check the tirerack.

I've never ridden in a car with them, but the AVS db's are designed (and marketed) to be quiet, right?

BTW Bob, not sure where in TN you are, but you might be close enough to join us for the spring fling -->

I do agree with the loudness of the tire...17's with the stock brigestones.

How long do these tires last? There are 21k on em now. The front actually look worn down more than the rear...but my dad might of rotated em without me knowing.

What would a wider tire in the rear do? Increase handling or acceleration?

Woah,
Try closing your sunroof shade and see if the road noise gets better - as in much better.

I had so much road noise on the highway when I got my 2003 GS430 I couldn't stand it -finally closed the sunroof shade and the noise went away. First dealer was clueless.

Second dealer (finally listening to me about the sunroof drain tubes) found that both sunroof drain tubes were sticking out beyond the gromets. He pushed them back up into the car and all is better.

The tubes are behind the rear wheels -that's all he told me. Oh yea, and that he has never seen anything like this. But others on the board have had this issue as well.
