Default RIMS and Theft

I am really intrested in getting 19 in rims for my Lexus IS 300, i have a good security system but I am still affraid I will get robbed. Should I worry or not?

How easy is it to steal rims?

in this day and age, if someone(s) wants your car, he/she would take it no matter how well you guard your rides..not sure if you heard this, few weeks ago here in LA, a group of pros actually went into dealer lots and steal wheels only...

or, they often simply tow/flatbed your whole car away, and strip for parts, esp the wheels..the best thing is to get full insurance, and prey for total loss when they steal your car.....

sad but so true, huh, will?

if you have a good alarm, you might be able to add tilt sensors to your car. wheel locks only stop average or rookie wheel thiefs

IMHO i think they'd steal the whole car now a days verse just the wheels. they can steal the car in one minute for thousands in parts or the wheels worth under $1k in 10 minutes.

Even the thief is smarter now a days.

I would just get a lojack or a personal GPS tracker system (both are the same price)

Track down the car or the insurance really screws you.

IMO.. it all depends on where you park the car. If you live in an apartment complex with a garage that doesn't get too much traffic, or you park on a quiet street, those are prime targets for wheel thieves. Just throw some locks on the wheels and they will cut your theft rate by at least 4/5 seeing that most "wheel thieves" are young kids or just jealous idiots. Either of which usually don't have the knowhow or experience to break locks. But if a pro wants your wheels or car, they will take it regardless if you have flamthrowers shooting out the sides...
