Question HRE 547 question

Do you guys think 19inch HRE 547s are a good wheel choice for my GS? I was thinking of giving up my LD1s for a set of HRE 547s, and needed some opinions. Also do you guys think 19x9f and 19x9.5r with a +38 offset will work? I want my wheels to have a nice fat lip.

Thanks for any info rendered.

i think it will look ok, not the best looking wheel for the gs imho. 540r is a better choice. 5 double spokes are just too "empty" for a big car like the gs imho.

not very sure about the offset and sizes though, i think it's correct but i will leave it to the expert

Default Nice Wheels...

I have a set of 18" 547s on my GS and I love em.
Great quality wheels.
As for looks, to each his own. I guess you can not get a wheel that satisfies everyone.

Personally I would run 8.5 front and 9.5 rear +39.

Maybe a 10" rear +46.

I don't understand why people want 9" front wheels...the car tramlines enough with 8.5" and 245 tires.

Next set of wheels for me may be Iforged....I'm starting to lose interest in HREs due to a certain persons comments on CL.

Late.

Where in TX are ya?

I agree w/Ryan, 19x8.5 is sufficient for the front. You will not gain any lip going from the 8.5 to the 9. Rears can be 9.5 or 10.

Peter- I think he's probably referring to me or Manaray.
Either way, I think your reputation here on CL is solid.

Perhaps I have been a jerk?

yah....it was you Bob for he whiner comment which I see you retracted.

I haven't personally checked the inner fender of the SL but I know my rims fill out the back of my GS better and there is no rolling or rubbing. I doubt the SL has a whole lot more inner fender than the GS.

As much weight as Manaray carries around here, it would have been nice to see you keep HRE shoes on his cars.

I am glad that there may be some competion against HRE....good for consumer...better and/or cheaper wheels.

I admit, my usual diplomatic ways went out the window that day. Sometimes my passion for what I do gets the best of me...

I have personally measured the new SL (R230 is its Mercedes chassis designation), and it is actually very different from any Lexus car I am aware of. There are several 'intricacies' about the fitment that must be considered... I could go into detail, but, frankly, it's boring!! BTW, the new 2003/2004 HRE brochure has a terrific-looking SL500 on the cover.

As much weight as Manaray carries around here, it would have been nice to see you keep HRE shoes on his cars
I agree, but unfortunately, HRE's marketing philosophy does not include the word "free." I'm not sure what kind of arrangement Manaray has w/ iForged, but our proposal was clearly not as aggressive. Mike and I are still friends- there is certainly no bad blood between us. I will be showing my new SC400 with 20" 845Rs soon, as HRE's first official show car (if anyone doubts HRE is serious about the Lexus market, this car will definitely prove otherwise). We are also building an M5, X5, and NSX as show vehicles.

I am glad that there may be some competion against HRE....good for consumer...better and/or cheaper wheels
We welcome the competition- it's only made HRE better, to be honest. We continue to smash our previous sales records as each month goes by, so times are good for us... no complaints here!
Yes, the iForged are cheaper... as is a Honda when compared to a Lexus. As for better... I'll leave you, the consumers, to decide. I am confident HRE is and will continue to be the three-piece wheel industry leader.

Yes, there is definitely no "bad blood" between Bob and I but I do have some other issues with HRE and their "support" of Lexus...would I have left HRE if the "support" was there? "Free" wheels were never an issue cuz I never asked for "free" wheels...

iForged wheels are not cheaper in quality. They just slap on less margin. Do you guys see anything wrong with that? But the reason why I went with iForged goes WELL BEYOND the proposal.

As you guys know, you don't shop based on price...you shop based on the quality.
