Should I???
I was pondering on whether or not to buy my brother's MHT rims. I think the offset is by 7 or 7.5. The rims are really nice, and he is going to sell them to me for a grand. The only problem is that I need to get one of them re-chromed because he curb-checked it so bad the chrome started to peel. The rims are v10's I believe, and are pretty expensive everywhere I've seen em. They are also real 3 piece rims. One more thing, how much do you guys think the plating will cost? My guess is not to much considering who ever does it can take it appart.
posts are really appriciated.

Sounds like a pretty decent deal. To repair and re-chrome, it's any where from 250 and up depending on what shop. Get some feedback and see what's good for the money. The only other thing you'll have to worry is the turn-around time? some places take shorttime. Others may be up to 2-3 weeks. If it's little curb rash, I wouldn't even worry. Most of the time from a distance you really cant tell depending on how bad it is. But if you plan on investing the money, will wait to send them in and like the design of the rim and won't get tired of it anytime in the future. then go for it. Also compare it to the price of a slightly used one or a new one. Which is the best option? Good Luck!

I think you could find newer rims in better condition for the price you would pay for those.
$1000 + $250 repair on each wheel (let's assume the given price) would be $2000.
Are these 17"? If so there's definetly room for you to find newer and bigger wheels if you wanted to go that route.
By the way, offset is not the 7 or 7.5 that you mentioned. The 7 or 7.5" is the width of the wheel. This is really close to stock size. Ask around a little more and check things out. Maybe talk your brother down a bit considering the damage.
Do they look like these?

Yeah
lvangundy, they are 18's on 40 series tires. All look great except for one, I think it would be a good deal. Also, my brother bought these brand new, and paid a lot more than a grand. Thank you for the info on them being close to stock size, it does help in my decision to bye them.
Those are the right rims, but I cant tell if those are chrome or not, either way his are and I just decided to get them.

I bought a set of MHT V10 in chrome back in 1999 for my 1996 TL they ran me 3200(rim price around 500$ a piece.) with tires in 18in. MHT no longer makes these wheels.

that was my next and best idea
find out if they still make the rims and either order a new one
or the best is see if they have extra outer lips if they are true 3 peices it would be much cheaper than repairing the old one
