Square Tires on Staggered Wheels for IS250 AWD
Hi,
Is it okay/safe to run square tires on staggered wheels on the IS250 AWD? (2009, not the 3rd gen)
Picking up some OEM lobster claw wheels at 18x8 +45, 18x8.5 +50
Planning to run 225/40R18 all around on them
Rear would be slightly more stretch than the front
Would the weight difference between front and rear cause any issues for the differential/transmission?
Thanks

A 225/40 would be my recommendation and this size has a rim width range of 7.5-9". As LiCelsior mentioned, the rear may have a bit of a stretch to it, but the tire will be within spec.
Also, I do have a note that the tire will need to be an extra load tire used with 39psi front, 41psi rear to maintain load.

Is that considering factory recommended PSI for stock 225/45R17 is 35 front, 38 rear?
With the added weight both front and rear, new recommended PSI is 39 front, 41 rear?

I have a 2011 IS350 AWD and am looking to replace my stock 17's with stock 18's that came on the RWD model.
Current Setup (All Around): 225/45/17 (8"Width) X 45mm offset
Potential New Setup:
Front: 225/40/18 (8"Width) X 45mm offset
Rear: 225/40/18 (8.5 Width) X 50mm offset
My question is: Will the combination of a wider set of rear wheels plus the +5mm offset work without any issues? Will there be any clearance issues with the edge of the rear rim and the rear strut housings?

I appreciate the info Phresh2010. Are your '07 IS350 wheels staggered with wider (8.5") rears running on +50 offsets? Wanted to ask which tires you chose and if there was any difference in ride-quality after you moved to staggered 18's from the stock 17's?
