Widest tires on supra shocks/eibach setup?
hey guys
I was wondering whta the widest tires on a dropped sc is? I'm running eibachs with supra shocks and I would like to have 315s in the rear.... Anyone have em? Rolled fenders? Any rub?
thanks!

i am sure a memmber on this forum has a pair of 315's in the back he said no folding of anykind needed, im not sure if his car was dropped do a search for "315's" and im sure youll find something. By the way im running 255's on my stock 16 inch rim and i think getting anything larger increases its potential of getting punctured greatly (more tire contact with the road) i wouldnt recommend going that wide 255's loor really wide on my car, any wider and it will look a bit odd just my opinion.

The first-gen SC will take a 9.5" front and 11" rear pretty easily- offset is the key. More aggressive offsets will require rear fender 'rolling' to accommodate the tire. I'd recommend deciding on a wheel style or two, then see what the width & offset options are. If you're thinking about a cast aluminum one-piece wheel, the chances of finding (for example) a 19x11 with the correct offset are pretty slim, so you'll need to compromise.
One of my 'prototype' wheels set-ups for my SC is 19x9.5 +41 w/ 275/30-19 front and 19x11+48 w/ 305/30-19 rear (forthcoming Pirelli Rosso size). For the 'street', I've decided on (front) 20x9.5 (2.5" lip) +41 w/ 255/35-20 and (rear) 20x10.5 (3.5" lip) +42 w/ 285/30-20. For this, you need the flexibility of a custom-built wheel.
What you need to ask yourself is what are your objectives? A fat look? 650 rwhp? 18"? 19"? A $2500 budget? A $7500 budget? Do you have a favorite wheel style/manufacturer/finish? These are all factory in making the right decision. Give us more than the "broad strokes" of your plan/idea.

I'm going to be putting bfg 315 darg radials on stock supra rear wheels. I know the tire is alot bigger than what teh rim should take but it is for the strip only. BTW supra guys have all the tried and true offsets for rims. If you go to supraforums go to the mkiv technical forum and there is a post that is a sticky right on top with some good suggested offsets. Supra guys usually ahve a little troube with the setup I'm proposing on stock fenders while lowered. With rolled fenders however or not lowered, they fit fine on a supra. Since the bodies are slightly different I thought maybe it would fit on an sc
BTW I posted this in the sc300 suspension section originally because its a question exclusive to sc300s/400s.......

racing: sounds good, let us know how it works out. FYI, most 315 tires list the minimum allowable wheels width as 10.5". While they will fit on your OE 17x9.5, the performance of the tire is not 'optimized' for this wheel width.
Generally, the Supra wheel set-ups are interchangeable on the SC, but will occasionally require fender mods to the SC that would otherwise fit on a stock-bodied Supra- this depends mostly on tire selection.
Richie: yep, 275. Actually, I'm starting to lean more towards a 285/30-19, as the overall diameter is closer to the rear 305/30-19. No problem... you know me: the 'envelope pusher.'

Richie: Unfortunately, from a marketing standpoint, the SC400 is sort of "old school," so I doubt that it will go- certainly not as a booth car. Perhaps I can get it placed outside somewhere. Boston Acoustics is doing a full-out system with their Z5 speakers ($1000/pair) and new amplifiers- should sound incredible!
The SC has tons of backspacing available in the front, because, like the Supra, it does not have the suspension upright behind the tire like the GS/LS cars have.
