Question Optional 17" weels for GS430

Lexus web site says:

<quote>
Optional 17 x 8.0-in wheels with 235/45ZR17 tires are expected to experience greater tire wear than the standard equipment tires, 225/55VR16. Tire life may be substantially less than 15,000 miles, depending on driving conditions. Your riding comfort may decrease and road noise may increase during driving. Please consider all this when selecting a GS 430 equipped with this option.

Is it really so bad?

I had stock 16" and then went with stock 17" and there is a trade off. The 16" are much quieter then my 17" Michelin Pilot Sport. But the Good Years on the 16" dont even compare to the handling and grip of the 17". There is noise from lower profile tires, and GS has a sensitive front. I say go with 17" , first it looks much better ,second it performs better ,and i heard that Dunlop SP9000 are a good tire that is not loud.
