ES300--fitment question for OZ wheels
I've always been a fan of the OZ Opera, and looking through the OZ Wheels website, www.ozwheels.com I found the 2-piece Opera II wheels on special for $249 for 17" x 8", 37mm offset, a great price for the 1pc, a phenomenal price for the 2 piece. (model OR780FXS) Here's the catch: It's listed as fitting the GS and LS sedans (no mention of the ES). Will this width/offset fit my 1996 ES300, and would it work with a 215-50/17 tire (the size Tire Rack recommends for 17" ?
When I go to the fitment guide for a 1996 ES, it does say the 1-piece in a 17x8 with a 40 mm offset will fit my car. Does the extra 3mm really make that much of a difference? Is this an issue with FWD caliper clearance, suspension clearance, etc? If it fits, how do I go about purchasing these wheels? Can I get that price from one of the CL vendors who sells OZ wheels, or do I have to go through OZ? Thanks for your input. $1000 for good quality 2-piece wheels seems like an awesome deal.

Thanks for the reply, GS4Will. I'll drop Peter at Wheelexperts a note and see what he has to offer.
BTW, what do you mean by "too aggressive" of a fitment? Are the wheels going be too far in with a 3mm lower offset, hitting suspension parts, the front calipers, or just looking too "tucked in" in general?

I think what GS4Will was trying to get at is that the 37 offset will be pushed out from the wheel well (rather than tucked in as you had indicated). SInce the OE fitment for the ES is probably (not sure) only 7" width, the move to 8" + the additional 3mm of offset may be too much and cause rubbing.
