20's will not fit
My girlfriends friend has a sc400. She just bought some 20's to go on it. She told me that they said they will not fit. that she will have to take it somehwere in Jacksonville, Florida to get it (I wasnt real sure what she said but Ithink she said lifted or the body lifted. I wouldnt see why she will have to go through all of that. Any suggestions or anything. I will post with more info once I get it.

Your 20's didn't fit because the offset is WRONG. I know 20's fit for SURE because I've seen it and I've help install them on a SC...I'm getting 20's for my SC also...
You should do a +43 to +46 offset for the front (with 8.5" wide wheel) and a +46 to +48 with a 10" wide wheel on the back...
Since it sounds like the shop sold her some wheels that don't fit (they obviously don't know about fitting wheels on a SC), your only option is to roll the fenders...cuz even if you lift the car (which if you had coilovers, you coul easily do), if the car ever bottoms out, it will still rub...plus it won't look as good lifted...it'll look quite ghetto actually...
It always pays to do your research before you buy wheels...you can't trust most "performance" shops because very few of them have actually worked on Lexus cars so they'll just sell you some "generic" fit...plus when they see a girl coming...

Din, what tire size and wheel offset are you running?
You can actually do a 9" wheel with a deep offset and have no rubbing with a 245 but unless the vendor doesn't offer a 8.5", there in no advantage (no deeper lip because of the need to deepen the offset). I just finished doing a lot of wheel swaping and measuring and whatnot of the SC and I found that a 9" wide wheel needed like a +45 or higher offset to prevent rubbing (running a narrow 245...some brands of 245 might actually rub a little with that offset). It's hard to get a "perfect" offset because of the different widths of tires (even at the same "techincal" size...)
I have decided to go with a 20x8.5 +41 running 245/35-20 tires...for the front wheels. Based on the width of my TIRE, I should be very close (like 1mm) to the plastic trim on the inside of the fender. I'll post photos and info once the wheels and tire are actually on the SC.

in the front im running 20x9 with +38 offset on 245/35/20 PZero Asimmetrico.
Do you know if they made different fenders for the different years. I had damaged the left fender and had to replaced it with a used fender maybe from a 92-94 SC and with the 20s I noticed the my right fender is a little wider than my left one.. That is why I only hear the left front rubbing. So Im guessing the fenders changed a little in 95-96???
Although the low offset may work on my car with little rubbing , I would suggest anyone else go with the higher offsets like Manaray suggest. Myfront fenders meet the tires with very little room, so jsut to be on safe side get the higher offsets.
Also Manaray which tire have you found to be the narrowest in 245/35/20in size?

Thanks for the info Din...I'm actually VERY surprise that setup doesn't rub like CRAZY...I put on my HRE's on my SC (20x8.5 +38) and it rubbed into the plastic trim on the inside of the fender...
As far as I know, the fenders are all the same ('92+)...but I have exactly mearsure them so I can't say for sure...does your left fender and right fender both have the plastic fender trim on the inside? How about the "flange" on the fender (the part that the plastic trim is attached to)...are they horizontally straight or angled upward a little bit?
I've done a little research and comparing the Nitto NT-555, Bridgestone S-03, and Toyo Proxes T1-S, the Nittos were the widest (that might have been my problem since I had a Nitto on there). The Toyos and Bridgestones were the same. Of course, this is based on measurements that the companies gave me, not my actual measurements. The differences were VERY small (like 0.05")..but hey, that's 1.27mm...that does make a difference when you're cutting it close!
Hey Din, have you tried driving up a driveway at like a 45 degree angle? This will compress the suspension on the lower side of the car so that the wheels (front and rear) will TUCK into the fender. It's a good way to check for fender clearance...

Yes I have all the plastic inside my fender with the trims. It jsut werid that when i look at myleft fender the end out the fender meets my tire and on the right side it sticks out maybe 1/4in? My friend who is a body man even said the same thing.
Ive driven up some fairly steep driveways and only the left front rubs a bit.
