Question 225 tires on stock 16'' rims

Would it be possible to put 225 tires on stock 16'' rims (GS300)?
If yes what would be the proper tire size?

Yes, as long as you have clearance so the tires don't rub then go with 225/60/16

The OEM size on a 2001 GS 300 is 215/60/16 not 55 according to tirerack like I originally thought.

Okay 215mm is the stock size on the GS300 then? That raises one more question to me: why go wider than that on a stock rim? Thinner is quieter, cheaper, and yields better mileage. I understand wider on wider wheels or if you're having traction issues with BPUs, but neither seems to apply to your situation.

Default 225 on 16

225 is the stock size on the GS4 with 16", 215 is the stock size on the GS3 with 16". The 225/55/16 WILL fit without issues on a GS3.

In 2002, the GS300 SportDesign came with 225/55R16 tires on the 16" wheels but the other GS300's came with 215/60R16. For 2003, all GS300's got 225/55R16 tires. On the following page from edmunds.com, read the "What's New for 2003" section.

If I'll go with 225/55R16 how will it affect speedometer and navigation system?
