I'm sure you will get alot of different opinions on this but I'll tell you waht i have and they fir perfect Nice and flush and they don't stick out passed the fender... Here ya go

Front- 20x8.5, 38 offset and 245 35 20 tire

Rear 20 x10, 42 or 43 offset can't remeber, 275 30 20 tire..

Hope this helps.... Good luck on the quest for wheels

what about 245/35/20 on a 9.5"front, 255/35/20 on a 10" rear?

here is the noob question... why the staggered sizing?

staggard give a very nice aggressive look and also gives you a wider wheels and tirs out back for grip on the rear wheel drive car.

as far as offsets

20x8.5 front +36 to +44 should be fine with no rubbing and lowering, no fendor work needed whie using 245/35, 245/30,

20x10 out back +38 to +48 would be fine with no work needed, no rubbing and either a 265/30 275/30 285/30 tires.

Actually, I'd stay in the 40s with x10. I have 20x10 +38 with 275s and I had to shave the fender. Other than that, bluelex's numbers are good. Here is some good reading for "safe" sizes:

9.5s will fit in front but it will take just the right offset and some fender work. In the rear, 255s are a bit skinny for a 10" rear.

As for staggered, the wheel well in the rear is deeper than the front. So to fill it better, you need a wider wheel. This is for aesthetics. There are also performance ramifications because the GS is RWD. Having wider tires will give you a larger contact patch to help grab better. With more tires to the ground, though, you will also get more road feedback in terms of feel and sound.

I have 20 X 9 +38 in front with 245/35/20 tires and I have no problems unless I really drop her down on the coilovers. Occasionally I have a slight rub when turning the wheel full-on when backing out in reverse, but nothing significant IMO. Out back I have 20 X 10 +43 with 285/30/20 and they are fine. Of course the camber and drop height will have effects and if you are at stock height and no negative camber I think my wheels would rub the fender liner on bumps.

will a 255 rear throw off the odometer too much?

A little less than 7% too slow on the odo/speedo. Any particular reason why you are going with 255? I am trying to see what you are trying to gain. 285/30 would be a better choice, IMO.

it's also a 35-series tire, not 30-series. i guess that's even worse?

It mainly depends on the offset of the rear wheel. We did 20x10 on a 255/35 Toyo T1-R for our 2000 Celsior and not only is it barely stretched, but the wheel is almost flush to the fender due to the offset. With that set, if you have a 20x10 with a 47 offset and a 255/35-20 its going to look kidna odd.

Also unless you get custom made wheels, i'd stay away from 20x9.5 on the front axle that is what you call a "tuner" style, meaning every component has to perfectly complement the other in order for it to work (wheels, tires, spec, etc)

Good luck

Well, the OEM 17s wheels are 643mm high. 20s with the "typical" tires are 673-679. Your 255/35 is 687mm. A couple of the reasons people go with wider rears is for looks (so it will fill the fender better) and for performance (since the GS is RWD). One of the drawbacks is the inability to rotate.

With 255s, you are not maximizing the benefits while having to live with the drawback. The typical size is a good amount over OEM already and the 255/35 is making it a bit worse.

People here have been happy with Toyos, Nitto, and Michelin. Michelins are nice if you are willing to pay the premium.

As for tire pressure, I run 39 on mine.

39psi both front/rear?

the local sale was on the falken azenis fk451 (i think that's what it's called)... but the biggest tire they had was 255/35/20, hence all the questions.

michelin is too stratospheric in cost for me... i'll look into the nitto/toyo options.

thanks neo.
