We have a 2007 IS250 AWD with 52K. We want to change from the potenza's that are currently on it to an all weather tire. My son has a 2009 M5 and an Audi A4 and says that we should look at Continental DWS tires. I can get them locally from Dunn tire or Mavis/Cole for about $600 "out the door" price but I read the comments and the tires are short lived, maybe 35K instead of the 50K the manufacturer says. This car gets no more than 8K/yr. Any recommendations? Also when outside temp goes down the low pressure indicator goes off. I have taken it to the local tire guy and they brush the corrosion off of the rim (original) so the bead reseats and it works for a few months. Is this common with aluminum rims?

i run Continental ExtremeContact DWS's in both of my cars. they are great tires. as for low tire pressure light turning on fill your tires a little more then what it needs. when it gets cold out tires loses a bit of air. so if it needs 32 psi fill it to about 37 psi and you should be ok. everytime i change tires at work i always brush off the beads reseat with a die grinder and put bead sealer. i seen many techs at work not do this and it so happens could leak air sometimes. Nothing worst then having customers come back saying you did something wrong and you end up having to fix your mistake for free.

I just put a set of Michelin AS3's on 2 weeks ago. They are worlds quieter than the ****ty Bridgies that came on the car.

So far I am pleased with them.

Tough choice between Michelin A/S 3 and and Cinturato plus. Conti DWS has some catching up to do.

Hankook Noble 2 S1's ride really nicely and have excellent grip when cornering. They are usually priced cheaper than the other brands mentioned previously. Give them a look.

The Continental is a nice tire and it does great in snow/ice if you see any winter weather. Although the new Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3 mentioned as well will probably give you a quieter and smoother ride overall. The air loss issue you describe is just pretty typical anytime the temperatures drops significantly, I doubt you have any issues with your wheels in this case because if you did have a corrosion problem you would lose air at all times not just when it gets cold
