Wheel / TIre & Offset Question
hello:
can some one please explain in simple terms what offset means as it relates to wheels and what the concept is all about?
what type of offset do I need for 20" wheels with 20X8 in front and 20X9 or 20X10 in the rear?
What tire size do I need for 20X8 wheels and also what size for 20X9 and 20X10?
I am getting sponosred by a wheel company and need to make some decisions.
BTW, my car is dropped 1" all around with Eibach Springs.
Thanks,
Ted

offset
Ted,
alot of it also has to do with the wheel "spoke" design. Offset is the distance the wheel sits off center from the hub... the higher the + offset number is the closer to the differential, the lower the number the closer to the fenders..to give the car a "wider-looking" stance.
I think for 20"s the general consensus here has been in the vicintiy of 35-40mm offset depending on wheel pattern, but with 20x10's you need to be concerned about rolling the fenders if you go to 35 (I think I remember reading 38 being the magic number).
Hope that helps...besides if your sponor is still the same as it was when you got the Riva's they should know exactly what works/what doesn't.

Thanks Johhny Mo.
Good to hear from you.
Are you doing any meets this summer. My car is in the shop getting some work done.
How about tire sizes?
My wheel sponsor is different from the one I previously had w/ the AT Italia Riva 19" wheels.
Peace,
Ted
