Default Premature wear tire shoulder - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

Hello all,

Took my car in for an oil change today and the tech guy told me my front tires shoulders are almost bald. I was very surprised as these tires are only less than 2.5 years old with less than 35k km. I took a look with him and to my surprise it looks pretty bad. The rears are fine with plenty of tread tho.

Anyone else with these tires have the same issue ?

Looks like an alignment issue to me. When was the last time you had an alignment done?

average tire wear on those IS250's is 20k-40k miles depending on driving styles/habits and road conditions.

that vehicle new from the dealer comes with a warning sticker on the passenger rear window that says "due to the high performance nature of this vehicle tires may wear as early as 20,000 miles"

I agree you have an alignment issue which has caused the irregular wear, tires don’t just wear on a one edge unless the vehicle is somehow causing them to. The chunking is also a very good indicator that the tire has been scuffing across the road, if you can image driving in a straight line but the tire would be pointed slightly outward in this case.

Zig is most likely correct... Toe out would most likely be cause of that wear... That being said, some vehicles wear tires prematurely even if completely within spec...
