My rotors lately have been getting pretty rusty and I'm wondering if a brake cleaner or some other solution will take the rust off? The car sits for a few days at a time and when i'm ready to drive there covered in yellow rust... Doesn't help that the car sits outside most of the time but there has to be way to minimize this? Any ideas?

Brake clean really only works for brake dust and oily residues... unfortunately, there is nothing really you can put on the rotor that will prevent it, that won't contaminate the brake pads...

best thing is to order zinc coated rotors next time...

it doesn't hurt anything though...

i had raybestos advanced technology rotors on my old LS460 and they NEVER rusted!
