Default Help need tires

I have a 06 lexus gs 300 AWD got 19" wheels current tires are 255 35 19 and don't think I have any room to put on 265 35 as have no clearance I would like a thicker tire if possible but I had a $1000 set of tires on it I had good year assurance or something on it. I am looking for a good tire for Wet weather with a long tread life. It never snows or ice up here in Louisiana. I have narrowed it down to:

Bridgestone Potenza s-04 pole postion
Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetrical
Contiinental extreme contact DWS

The bridgestone only has 280 or so UTQG and the others like Michelon's have 500 or 540 UTQG does that mean I get almost twice the life out of them?? I don't want to buy a tire for 20,000 miles and I could spend a bit more and get more miles out of them. Someone give me some advice please.

also what is the biggest tire I can get on the car without rubbing? will a 245 40 19 fit? I don't have a staggard setup just normal one.

ok did more research looked up some thicker tires if they work

I have Bridgestone Turanza serenity plus
kumo esta LX platinum (which are real cheap)
and the Michelon primacy mxm4's (expensive)

It's sounds like your biggest concern is tread wear and you'll typically get about 30% more wear out of the all-season tires than summer tires. The tires you were comparing consisted of 2 summer tires and 1 all-season. I think as far as value, performance and tread life you would be most happy with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. As far as fitting the 265's I'm not sure, maybe someone on the forum with a GS can let you know if they have used this size before.

Any reason those three tires? They aren't equal comparisons. The S-04 and the Goodyear will outperform the DWS in the dry and wet, whereas the DWS would give you slightly longer treadlife and some snow traction. If snow and ice aren't a factor, maybe a different summer performance tire with longer life expectancy???

You can't compare UTQG ratings between manufacturers (and sometimes even between lines of tires within a manufacturer) because they are all tested differently... The government requires them be rated but doesn't put a specific way to test them to determine the rating - that is left up to the manufacturers...

I don't know how much room you have either, but I would think 245/40-19 would fit if 255/35-19 fits... it is narrower and just a touch taller...
