Question GX470 Tire Suggestions

What tire do you recommend for my '05 GX470 ? Mostly a commuting vehicle, but occasionally take it off-road - beach driving, hunting. I do not like the handling nor the wear of the Dunlop Grandtreks that are currently on it. Thanks.

My top 2 choices would be the Michelin LTX AT2 or General Grabber AT2, both have pretty good wear, good paved road manners and still have a decent amount of off-road grip.

Thanks for the recommendations Zig.

If I were to go with a less aggressive tread pattern what do you think of the Michelin LTX M/S 2 vs the Cross Terrain ? According to your web site's surveys and reviews the LTX beats the Cross Terrain on most categories. .

LTX M/S is a much better tire than the Cross Terrain in almost all aspects... the Cross Terrain only excels in quietness, and not by much, IMO...

Only problem with any of the Michelin tires is they get scary slippery once they get higher mileage on them - the tread never seems to wear out, but they get so hard they might as well not have any tread...

Thanks Mitsuguy. That confirms what I was thinking about the LTX MS/2. The only thing I don't like are the white letters, but I can mount white letters inside.

A friend has a Tacoma and he raves about his Michelin Latitude Tour tires. He has 150k miles and is still on his second set.

The Michelin LTX M/S 2 is a very great tire and I would highly recommend it. (very high mileage) I just recommended a couple all terrain tires because you have all terrain now and you said you did some off road. But when it comes to highway tires the LTX M/S 2 is one of the very best you can get.

Thank you. I think I will go with the LTX's when my current tires get down below 6/32.
