Default Rim Question

Hey Guys,

Brand new to the board.

I had a set of Genesis Coupe wheels on my 250 and upgraded to a 350.

As most of you know the Genesis Coupe wheels are 19x8 +35 front and 19x8.5 +35 rear. I assumed they would fit after reviewing a lot of different member set ups.

I put them on and the inside spoke clipped the caliper on rotation. I stopped right away and put my stocks back on but am still wondering why they don't clear the calipers.

My only though is because it's an 8 in the front and I need at least an 8.5 front

Looking for input.

Thanks,

It's not really the size or width of the wheel. It more or less has to do with disk type and brake clearance. The IS350 has larger brakes than that of the 250 which may be why you're having clearance issues.

Some pertinent info in the thread below

Oh and by the way, welcome to Club Lexus

Yeah I know the brakes are a lot bigger but I thought there wouldn't be an issue. From what I read a lot of guys run almost the same set-ups.

19x8 with a +35 didn't seem like it would be an issue....

Do you have a size that you would recommend?

Thanks for the welcome note

The problem isn't with the offset or the width, it all has to do with brake clearance. That all depends on the disk type.

Here's a link explaining the different disk types

I'm not too familar with second gen IS wheel fitments (I'm more of a GS guy myself). If you need additional help with fitments, visit the thread down below ( 2nd Gen IS wheel fitment thread). The folks there will be more helpful as to the particulars of the IS fitments.
