bunch of wheel questions....
well i want to thank you in advance for your help
so i finally found a set of 17 inch supra tt wheels for my sc 300
the wheels have no front tires but comes with back tire..but my friend will give me 2 brand new tires from his bmw
here are my questions:
1) will 225/40/17s fit the supra front wheels which are stock 235 width usually...they are 17 X 7
2)the supra rears come with 275/40/17s..will 275 width fit my lexus sc300 that has a stock suspension?
3)is running wheels without center caps a bad thing for the car?

#1) 225's will fit, but are too small. Invest in some wider tires.
#2) 275's will fit fine in the rear
#3) Center caps are just for looks and to cover the lug nuts.

You need to read up on plus sizing tires.
To go from a 215/60-15 stock tire to a 225/40-17 tire you will drop almost 1.25" in overall diameter. This will cause some issues...one being...
Foundation Speedometer Reading 65mph Adjusted Speedometer Reading 67.89mph

The best tool I've seen for comparing overall diameters for plus-sizing setups is here at: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
You can do a comparison on two tires that will give you revs per mile, outside diameter, and speedometer error, as well as a visual comparison of the two sizes. Or, there's a tool that will let you enter a bunch of sizes, separated by commas, and return a neat little table to compare things.
