Default Help getting a higher profile tire

I currently have
18 x 8.5 +35

with Potenza RE970AS
225/40 r18

dropped minimally on f-sport shocks and springs

I would like a higher profile tire to get a bit softer ride cause the roads here in NYC are just too bumpy for me.

can i go with 225/50 or which direction should i look, not sure if I can go to 235

You can go with 225/45r18 or 235/40r18. Both of them will be within the 1% odometer error and will give you more cushioned ride without any rubbing or alignment issues.

Not completely true... Though they should both fit (just make sure all 4 match on an AWD car), a 225/45-18 will rear 3.5% slower than you are actually traveling, and 235/40-18 will be closer, but still 1.3%

235/40-18 would be my choice as the additional width will give you a little more protection on the sides as well...

I would ask around and see if anyone has run 245/40-18 without issues, as this would be 2.5%, so not as much as the 225/45-18 difference, but still more width for cushion...
