What are the best tires for 255/40R18 For A 2009 Lexus - IS250 ((RWD)(18 Inch Y Rated Opt)? My priority list is

1. Smooth (summer/california)
2. Less road noise
3. Last long
4. Pricewise

Please recommend. It's time for the new tires as the car reaches 36K soon.

Both on my 240SX and the IS350 I run Hankook Ventrus V12s. $172/ea. on tirerack.

They have handled the track very well and have a pretty good wear rating.

i think v12 are overrated on this forum... Just because one guy(^^ NOT YOU) says get them everyone jumped on them like a bandwagon...including myself.. Ive had two sets and while they been good to me.... They wore out faster than anyother tire ive owned. I recommend yoko s drive... Thats all i gotta say.. and that v12s suck and ill never buy them again...

Tires I like in that size, with the proper (or at least very close) rating:

Bridgestone Potenza S-04
Michelin PS3
Michelin PS2
Bridgestone RE760

All of those meet the needs of your car, the first three Y rated, the 4th one W rated, which should be plenty for the application, still a very high performing tire. All of them are asymmetrical so they can be rotated side to side for less uneven wear...

the S-04 is the way to go, and the reviews seem to support that...

There are plenty of other options, but these are your best options

Today I got a new pair of Bridgestone RE760 for rear tires and I started hearing constant noise at 40mph and above.
Does anybody have the same noise for these tires?
I called the tire shop and will test drive with a technician tomorrow.

interesting... I've driven on quite a few sets with no noise whatsoever... what type of noise are we talking about? Anything else change, even in the slightest, or just the tires? Be specific... Will be interested to hear the outcome...

More like wind noise with low tone flute sound like. I am into high-end audio so I trust my ears.
The front tires are the same model and on my car for 15K already and I didn't notice the noise.
These tires are asymmetric and I notice today that the driver side has more forward "directional" tread while the passenger tire has the opposite. I checked and don't see any direction indicator. Only "OUTSIDE" text which is correct because I can see that.

Ok,
I drove the technician for 30 mins and he admitted that there is a bit of noise from the front tires! Front tires are the same brand/model except the size is 225 vs 255 of the rear.
The conclusion from the tire shop is to drive it

One of the benefits to an asymmetrical tire is the fact that you can rotate them side to side...

This should be done every 5-10k miles, depending on personal preference... this will keep that noise to a minimum...

my all 4 tires are now Bridgestone RE760 because they are cheapest and available at my local shop. Do I hear the noise? yes. There is a kind of noise that I think the tread pattern generates. I feel regretted and that I should have paid more or wait for better tires. YMMV.

Any tire that is neglected will make noise...

Have you rotated the tires side to side??? If not, then that needs to be done to prevent the type of wear typical to performance tires
