Default GS400 (74147) rims on sc

Anyone have the 17' GS rims on an sc that they can post on this thread? The rims are currently offered for club lexus members as part of the chrome wheel exchange (Hollander No. 74147).

I want a slight larger Lexus rim for my sc turbo project car.

Thanks in advance,
-scott

Why get the GS rims when you can get wider aftermarket rims?
You'll need the traction after the turbo.

Verylost,

Good question... My goal is to build a near stock looking sc300 that's turbocharged (i.e. sleeper).

I've completed the 6-speed install and used the existing 5-speed shifter **** on the six speed shifter. The reverse lock-out switch is hidden *under* the shifter boot. The shifter console looks just like a stock sc300 5-speed.

I'm working with PowerHouse Racing to do the turbo installation. That will start soon once they install a custom driveshaft which happens later this week. Projected HP is 450 at the wheels. I'm hoping the 17' GS rims give me a little more bite. Aftermarket rims would work better, but I really want to keep Lexus products through-out.

Why not try Supra TT wheels? They look very OEMish yet are 17x8 and 17x9.5.... plenty of room for traction with those widths. GS rims are only 8-inches wide, which means you could only go about 245-255mm (max) tires on those, which won't be adequate for 450rwhp.

Lex,

Isn't it your car that had the new shocks/springs/struts with the Supra rims shown on another thread? If so, it does look good.

However, it's tough to pass on the chrome rim swap being offered for club lexus members. Lexus OEM chrome wheels run $2400. $800 is a *bargain* with your old rims as trade-in. Any idea what Supra chromes run?

Thanks for all the input. I hadn't considered Supra rims, but that might be my best route.

why go turbo then short your self on traction......you can get a set of dope rims and lowerd it a bit, and still keep that almost stock look.....

I believe he stated he wants a complete OEM look to make his car into a sleeper. BTW, Lexus center caps fit on the Supra wheels. You just have to find the Lexus center caps that are convexed as opposed to flat-faced. I think some of the LS400s had convexed curved center caps.
