Question Alingment questions?

Even I haven't decided which wheel to get. But I need to do my alingment.

Here the question comes. Since the dealer can't do alingment for wheels bigger than 18" (the wheels I will get are 19"). the guy in dealer tell me that I can use the stock 17" wheel to do the alingment first, then fit in the 19" wheels. Is this possible? or this is just a bogus alingment? Or should I just do this outside the dealer? the reason I want to do it at that dealer because I get a deal for only $50 to do the alingment.

PS. gs4will, sorry for haven't get back to you. I still haven't make up my mind for the wheels. I will PM you once I make up my mind. Thanks.

batking..

see you in cali..which dealer did you went for alignment? some does have the right machine for 18s and larger..

well, not sure how bad you need the alignment. but if you are thinking of getting new 19s, you would certainly need to do another one after you get the new wheels/tyres onto the car.

on the other hand, if presently you need alignment bad, and you have $50 to spare, go for it...

ps..batking, not a problem, these are big ticket, luxury items, just let me know when you are ready...
btw, just wondering, which finish do you think you would like more on the wheels, chrome or polish?

let me know, thanks

I have lowered my car with Tien CS. and the tire are running flat inside. So i have to do it ASAP. after all since it is only $50 and the regular dealer price is over $150 so I guess I would just go ahead and do it. Is $50 a good price?

The other reason I need the alingment is when ever I passed 70 mph I step on the brake my steeling is viberating strongly and I can see and feel my hands are shacking strongly. I don't know what is the real reason for this. it is only happening on the high speeds (over 65 mph). I don't know if this are the brakes problems or the tires are runing flat causing it. maybe alingment will help. that guy who do my alingment will check it out. He said this might be my rotor has problems. But he haven't check my car yet.

btw, just wondering, which finish do you think you would like more on the wheels, chrome or polish?
At first I do like the chrome more since I have a Black GS4. But all my friends keep teeling chrome is ugly. and silver is more sporty. actually this is one of the factors which is blocking my decisions.

Batking.

tein CS, nice choice...anytime you lower the car, you change the suspension geometry, so you need alignmnet.

most likely your break rotors are warpped..the calipers are unable to properly "clamp" onto the rotors during high speed breaking...

the reason i asked about your wheel preference for future reference. chrome does look nice with blk car. but the diamond polish on blk simply looked timeless and classic...btw, do you have big break caliper in the front now? or just stock size?

B,

both high and normal disk of the wheels are exactly the same design, clean 5 spoke.

high disk has more "room" behind the spokes to accomodate big break caliper. therefore, you loose ~1"-1.5" of Lips on the 19x8.5 front wheel.

ie:

19x8.5, +43 offset, high disk, ~2" lip

v

19x8.5, +38 offset, normal disk, ~3" lip

rear is the same
19x10, +41, 4" lip
