Default Safe to go lower width wise?

My brother wants my stock 17x8 rims because they look better than his stock rims. My question is will it be safe for me to run his rims 17x6 front and 17x6.5 rear? I have an IS250 AWD. I know people usually go up in size when it comes to rims but, I'll be using them for the snow season. Any inputs? Thanks

Wheels are safe, but, you can't use his tires... on your AWD car, you HAVE to have all 4 tires the same size, brand, and style...

ideally you want to have the same size rim all around as well as same size tire. You shouldn't run staggered set ups on AWD cars. Plus, a 6" rim on the front of an AWD sedan seems a little small. But that also depends on the type of driving you're doing. If you're just cruising around, you're probably okay, but i wouldn't push the limits of the car on such a small wheel.
