Does anyone know if 245/40 18 tires will fit 18/7.5 wheels? Many shops are telling me that they do and that they will look very nice all around on a 1998 GS300. Anyone out there have this set-up (same tire and wheel sizes) or know of anyone that does? Thanks!

double check
it depends on the brand and model of tyres.
for 245s, the usual minimum width 8". if you want to put 18*7.5s, you would you need to find the tyre model that could accomodate such narrower width of rim.

Well, I don't know the tire just yet...the wheels I am getting are Katana Belajeo's (18X7.5). I am looking for 245/40s but I am not too sure. I am trying to make the tire look as meaty as possible. What do you recommend?

v300 is right
18*7.5s are usually for smaller cars, such as the is. i just did a quick check, on the tirerack, even 235s need 18*8s on a lot of model tyres.
if your budget only allows you to go for the 18*7.5s, you would need to find the tyre model in 235/40/18 that has a min. section width requirement of 7.5"

So do you think that the 18X7.5 wheels on 235/40s will be better all around? You say that they are meant for smaller vehicles, does this mean that it won't look good on my 1998 GS300? I already ordered the rims (I can't get my money back) and I am now nervous!!!

now i am worry...too
you are in s.cal? which store sold you the 18*7.5s? which brand, model tire will you be using? or, what did the shop told you to use ?
98 gs is a relative large car. of all the japanese tuner mag.ads i read, the 18*7.5s are for the IS300.
if you are stuck with the 7.5s, you need to find the tyre that has the 235 fittment for 7.5"s. as far as i know, very few tyre in either 235 or 245 will fit 7.5s. check the tire rack site, or each tyre manufcature site for correct specs in SECTION WIDTH FOR RIMS.
which model rim did you ordered? i am sure you like that style, so go and ask them to see if they have the 18*8 or even 8.5s in that model, and pay them a little more for upgardes.
to get that meaty look, you need at least 18*8(8.5 the best), and 245/40/18. almost all the members who has the 245s use at least 18*8s.

i know for a fact that 245 tires will not fit 18X7.5 rims. you need at least 18x8. i have the same wheels (katana belajeo) and i went with 18x8.5 front and back with 245/40/18 michelin pilot xgt z4. and the price difference between 18x7.5 and 18x8 wasn't much if i remember correct.
