Default 22" wheels

Do you think 22's are to big for an X5? 20" more in tune with the X5's bodysize?

IMO, 22's on an X5 looks just right. Same effect that 20's have on a GS or LS for example...looks just right!

yeah, 20" on a GS is just right, though it looks like it could almost take another inch. 22" on a big SUV wouldn't hurt it at all, since we all know SUV's don't do more than haul groceries and soccer ***** or are used for their perceived pimping factor

We have sold more 22s than 20s for X5 applications, if that tells you anything

22" Chrome PG3s = the hot ticket = hard to keep in stock

I'm waiting to see how the GX470 turns out in person. It looks like it will be bigger than an X5/RX type of SUV. It should be able to take 23's!

Wheel X, I am in car selection hell right now. Just seen a 745IL just that killed it, little longer then the I, black on black, damn it was hot.

Anyone housing pics of a 745 with 22’s? I like the Hartge Classics on an X5 or 745, that is what I am looking at.

PG3’s??

jpa2400- wow, you're one of the few on this board that thinks the 7 series looks good (I think it looks OK, not butt-ugly like others seem to think). I've seen pics of the 7 series with 22's and 20's. I think the wheels make the car a lot better looking. Looks aside (since that is a personal preference), have you read the stories about BMW buying bsck the new 7 because of reliability problems (lots of software issues)? Even some of the guys on the BMW board are talking about that. Just something to consider before spending $70k+ on a new car.

On the other hand, I've always liked the X5. Slap some 22's and a nice body kit (AC Schniter's kit looks sweet!) and you're good to go!

I think Giovanna has an ad in the Dupont Registry with a silver 7 series on 22's. Also, Racing Dynamics had a pic of the new 7 with 22's and their "Tornado" body kit that looked vicious! I'll post pics or links if I can find them.

I can deal with the rear of the car, some don't like it. I really like the length of the IL. I guess it's just me, people say I look better in a "gangster" type of car, like a Fabulous LS430 or the 745IL. I caught an angled side shot of a black\black 745IL today with the 19" wheels, something just got to me about it.

As far as reliability, yeah that’s why I am picking up a RX or a 98-99 GS, if the BMW doesn't start, I know my Lexus will Not even sure what I want to do, thinking of just waiting until spring.

Thanks for the pic!! The Hartge and Hamann 22" on the X5 and 745 are looking sweet to me. All and all I hate the other boards so even when I buy outside the Lexus realm I am going to ask for your guys input, other boards are just annoying. I don’t mind the summer\winter car thing, but the 745 looks good to me with the stock 19” wheels or I can do 22’s and put the 19’s on for the winter. If I do a new LS I will want to toss on 20’s, body kit and lower it, not sure if I want to do that, if I go with a 745 or like a RS6, it will be useable in the winter with no hassle. I really want to take a 98 GS400 and do the SRT TT kit (98’ had Eshift right?)

To many cars man, I wish the Automakers would really jack up some of the body styles just so it will limit my selection.

Edit- Just seen those other pics as I was posting, thanks you!!

Are those 20" or 22" Hartge?

If I were looking, I would wait for next spring and test drive the new Audi A8...I think it looks very promising. Definitely one of the sportiest big luxury sedans and it looks like they're taking tips from Lexus interiors (which is good) and putting in their own version of i-Drive which supposedly should be much better than BMW's. Finally, german sportiness and handling with a Lexus-like interior...now they just need the Lexus reliability!

Here's a pic of the A8...
