Default Tire opinions

I am up for some new tires. I did a search not much on tire brands and recommendations. Right now I am up for all new tires. The rear are the OEM tires i got since 2006 at 45k miles. The front changed once already.

Do you guys buy online or go to shops for the best deals? Any brands you sure recommend? I am looking for something decent priced, some performance but more on mileage. Driven highways and local and the occasion hard corner, no track or anything. thanks for the help in advance.

What season are you looking for? I've also been in the same search, but I need All-Season tires. If you are wanting Summer tires, than you can't go wrong with the price and durability of the Hankook.

As long as you don't need to drive in snow (or freezing temps) buy the Hankooks.

If you have to drive in snow for any significant amount of time (ie a couple months of snow season) then buy the Hankooks and also buy a cheap set of wheels and put WINTER snow tires on em.

All-seasons are a compromise that aren't great at anything.... they're significantly worse in snow/ice than snow tires, and significantly worse than summer tires in wet (non-snow) and dry conditions.

All that said, if you're in a weird case where all-seasons can make some sense for you (like, you don't get months of snow, but you always get occasional, unplannable, bits of it a couple times a year... or you never get snow but you often get sub-35 degree temps) then Continental DWS tires would be my recommendation on all-seasons.... they're the "least bad compromise" all seasons from what I've seen.

Go with the Hankooks, I've had them on my Mercedes C300 for several months, excellent tires. I never use this car in snow, I have a SUV for that purpose.

I cross-shop the major on-line tire suppliers, but get my favorite (and highly qualified) tire/wheel store to match the price.

Thanks. We don't get any snow but a few days a year, but it is frequently below freezing during the winter months. I don't need great performing tires, but I do want them to be comfortable in the rain and hold up to below-freezing temperatures; and hopefully long tread-life.

Well, good summer tires are better in rain than all-seasons, but they're worthless below 35 degrees is your problem, so all-seasons it is for ya sounds like.

The DWS from continental as I said would be my recommendation there.
