Where to chrome wheels in O.C.?
Hi,
A friend of mine lives in Orange County, CA and is considering chroming his wheels. Does anyone have any recommendations of places in OC?

They chrome as well. They send your wheels out (off site) and it takes a few weeks to get them back though. They polish on site.
Chroming a wheel is usually around $100 each and up depending on the design. Usually a three step process.

you could mail TXSTYLE and see where he did his custom chroming? It was somewhere out in Cali, and may be on this list already posted, but I know that he's very happy with the work. I think that it ran about 470 for a set of 4.

Sharp: if MagMasters does their own polishing, but sends the wheels off-site for chroming, this means they do not chrome the wheels. The polishing, however, is a crucial step in the preparation process, and must be done before the plating is applied.

What means this? Are you talking about just having the wheels polished? On a cast alloy wheel, you'll want to clearcoat them or you'll spend your life trying to keep them looking nice & polished- they'll tarnish quickly.
For this, figure on about $15 per wheel to strip off the old paint or clearcoat finish, at least $50 per wheel for polishing, and $40 per wheel for clearcoat= about $420 for the set of four... not much cheaper.
The tighter grain structure of a forged wheel requires less maintenance with a polished finish.

I am talking about wheels that are chromed already but have become tarnised/dull over time. They buff them is what they told me without sending them off to regain the luster/brightness if the chrome can still be saved. When I said polish I meant buff, might have been confusion in the wording. I am not referring to stripping them completely down unless they are too far shot, in which case, Like I said before, if you need them chromed then they have to send them away.
