Question Toyo proxes TPT opinions?

i need to replace the OEM michelins on my wife's 1999 GS400. i've read a lot of positive comments on the Toyo T-1's here, but she is not an aggressive driver and i think that a high performance tire like that is not necessary. we've been pleased with pirelli p400's and yokohama avid T4's on other cars but neither is available in the correct size for the GS400.

the tire dealer is recommending the toyo proxes TPT. any opinions on this tire? should i go with the FZ4 instead?

thanks for the help!

I've read other here saying they were/are not fond of the michelin oem's, and that they are the mxm model. I replaced the oem goodyears with the michelin mxm (non-all season) and liked them fine. I had snows also.
I, also, am interested in the latest in tire choices. For less than all out driving.

tm3; what brings you to look for something other than just the same thing?

thanks for the reply. i'm glad you got good service from your michelins.

one of the oem michelin's went out of round with about 14k miles on it, and has made a lot of noise ever since. i had the same problem with michelins on my subaru, so i'm looking for another brand. lots of folks like michelins but having been burned twice i'm avoiding them.

thanks for the suggestions.

the dunlop sp5000's seem to be the most consistently liked by lexus owners, based on what i found at tire rack. no info there on the the toyo.

now i'll have to see if i can find some sp5000's locally.

Default Toyo FZ-4?

Have you considered the Toyo FZ-4? I assume that it's still a current model - I've had a set on my GS4 and was pleased with them - I had to replace a damaged (physical sidewall damage - not the tires fault) tire about 2 mos ago and bought it at Treadepot.com - was only $113.00 for 235/45/17.

Treadwear = 300, Traction = A, Temp. = A

yes, i considered the fz4 as it seems to be between the tpt and the t1. i think i'm going to go with the sp5000 based on the ratings at tirerack.

thanks for the info!
