Default Continental ExtremeContact DW

Hi everyone,

I have a set of Goodyear Eagle-RSAs which while perfectly OK from a performance perspective are very noisy and harsher riding than I'd like for my 2004 LS430. The Continental tires are the current top rated tire in their category on TireRack (though with a smaller number of driven miles than others at the top end of the list). I am most interested in low noise levels and comfort, although the DW does seem like it is a strong performer too. Living here in the Bay Area I don't need the DWS version of this tire but that's getting very good reviews too.

Does anyone have any opinions on the tire and/or experience with the ExtremeContact DW, preferably on an LS430?

Any other recommendations for a low noise, high comfort tire for the 430?

thanks!

It sounds like an ultra high performance all-season tire is the best option for you. I would take a close look at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.

Also look at the Bridgestone RE960AS PP. It's not quite as expensive as the Michelin PS A/S Plus, but still up there. And the reviews are very similar. I loved my 960's when i had them. The 40,000 mile warranty doesn't hurt either!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll certainly look into both recommendations. How were these two tires from a road noise perspective? That's really been the dealbreaker for me on the noisy Eagle-RSA tires I have now, I'm going to switch out what is essentially a brand new set of tires for these so I want to make sure I get the right ones!

I had my RE960's in 20's so i cant really comment on road noise as the low profile is going to give plenty no matter what tire you choose. Although it was never too loud or unbearable.

Either tire is going to be worlds better in comparison to the RSA's... they come oem on most cars and most oem tires = crap.

I switched the RSA's that came on my G35 out after 1500 miles.
