calling all tire gods...
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a new set of tires but I'm not really too sure what to get. I've done some searching and research in the forums already. From what I gathered, Falkens don't last very long and are very loud?
Going to put these on the stock 18s (225/40/18 and 255/40/18)
I've been checking out the following:
I'm looking for a combination of ride quality, longevity (I don't track or anything), decent noise levels and performance.
I heard Pirelli is good as well but I have no idea what I'm looking for there.
Please help me out!
Thanks!
-Vince

I've been checking out the following:

The re-11 is really track only tire developed by Bridgestone. I just went today and had a chance to try them out on a track in a little bmw 3 series. I loved them but for all around rain and summer driving I would choose the potenza re-760 which I also got to test out today on a wet track! After today, it convinced me!!! I am putting them on my car tommorow!!

since you dont track you don't really need ultra-performance tires as they won't last too long. and I've heard bad things about the Dunlop Z1 Star, not very durable and loud. If I have to choose between the three, I would choose Michelin Pilot PS2.
I have the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 on mine, although it's not in the same league as the ones you've listed, I think it will fits what you need more than the three. I've had them now for about 30k and still running very good, very comfortable, durable, road noise is decent very quiet, and handles great, although it won't handle as great as the ones you've listed but as you don't track your car it will definitely be more than enough. You should look into it.

i've never had any problems with falkens but yes, if you hit a pothole at the right angle, it will bubble. in terms of longevity and loudness i can only comment on the loudness part. to me there's not enough difference between those and other tires to really bother me

Not one of your original choices, but I had Michelin pilot A/S plus put on 25K miles ago, and they are a huge improvement over the original Bridgestone potenza's I had on the car. They ride very smooth, quiet, plenty of grip, and very good for our wet Seattle roads. They also have a 45,000 mile warranty. From the tread I have remaining on this set, I think I might get 50K plus on these.
