Default Nail in Tire/ Dealer says too close to sidewall to fix

I brought my car in for the 10k at Lexus of Memphis On Tue. I received a RX350 for a loaner and went home. Later that day I was called by the SA and told they found a nail in my left rear tire too close to the sidewall to be fixed and it is slow leaking and they would have to change the tire and would cost me $306. I told him go ahead and after thinking about it for 2 mins I called back and told him to leave it alone, he said the tire was off the rim and they were about to roll it out to the dumpster. I told them to put it back on and I would take take care of it. Next day I picked up my car and took it home. I never received any TPMS warnings and still have no warnings. Here are 2 pics of it. What do you guys think?

That can be fixed. It's not close to the sidewall. It should cost about $15 to fix.

It's 100% fixable. Take it to a DiscountTire or AmericasTire center and get it professionally repaired for free! Patched and plugged! Don't settle for just a plug or to pay up to $20 to get it patched.

I say Bull!!! Take it to a used tire place and they will plug it for you. All the other big name places will want to replace....
