Thumbs down Michelin Pilot Sport A/s plus

I just finished a 6hr trip to SF & back with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus. I should have listened to the tire rack wizard.

The ride was horrible in my IS250 it felt like I was driving my old Honda. These are the worst riding Michelin I have purchased. I have XGT on my Z28 and they ride better

My recommendation listen to the tirerack wizard! If I could prorate these tires for P2 I would do it in a heartbeat

before you do anything, check your tire pressures...

I had these in the past and they were great. I dont think they called them plus at that time but I was very happy with them and them made for a great year round tire in Chicago on a RWD car.

Hopefully its something that can be corrected.

I have them at the recommended F35 & R37. I usually run them 2psi higher for gas mileage but the rode worse so I put them back to spec.

Mike did you have a different suspension on your 350 running those tires? I know your highways are just as bad as ours

I hope it works out for you. I have these tires on my 250 and absolutely love them.

Not sure if it was real or imaginary but after about 1,000 miles they rode and handled even better.

From what I understand your roads are pure heaven compared to ours. We have a local that grew up in CA and takes trips to visit with family...anyway

I had them on another car about 5 years ago. RWD and used them year round. They did great in the summer and very good in the snow/cold. I had the PS2's on the IS since they where strictly summer use only.

What dont you like about them?

For some known reason the last couple trips to LA and SF the ride was so stiff. It was like riding a pogo stick for 3-4 hours. The old RE050 didn't ride that stiff. Maybe I need to replace the RE050 on the back too. Don't want to spend the money on the rears and find out that didn't fix the problem. Might as well just spend extra money for the P2 all around instead

did you have different suspension on the 350?

I have Pilot Sport A/S Plus on my LS430 (245/40/19 and 275/35/19). I LOVE them -- as high performance tires go, I can't say enough good about them from a ride and quiet standpoint on this car. I had Dunlop Sport O1As before and the Dunlops were POS compared to the Michelins. Also, I have swapped the OE 17" LS430 grandpa tires/wheels on and off in place of the 19's a couple of times which enabled me to compare noise and ride quality between the two sets. I was shocked to find that the noise and ride quality was almost identical, even on a back-to-back comparison (my wife noticed the same without me bringing up the subject). So, when I see someone who has the experience that the OP related here, it makes me really wonder if something is amiss with the car -- did you change suspension, wheels, alignment, anything???

I'm running them on my IS right now and the ride is good. Very quiet, smooth riding and they stick well. Only suspension mods I have are F-Sport springs. They are a bit firmer than my last set, but my last set was those horrible Turanzas...
