What company or manufacture are offering tire protection plan, depends on what they cover, I wouldn't mind picking up some toyo's, perrelli's, or dunlop's...

Depends on what you pay, I suppose. Last go around with high high performance tires I purchased a set of yokohamas from a national chain -- can't recall exactly what it cost, but I think it was pretty low or I would not have gotten it. Couple of months later I blew out a tire when I hit some junk in the road, the [$240] tire was replaced without any hassle. It was worth it for me!

its the plan discount tire offers for $20 per tire,
the tires are kumho 235/40/18 and 265/35/18
the roads in and around san diego arn't too bad either.
is it worth the extra 80$...

I purchased from America's Tire Company [which from the web site appears to be the same as Discount]. Don't know what the Kumho's cost, but for the extra 10% it cost me it was worth it.

I drive the 880 corridor from Fremont to Milpitas daily and there is not a single path that I don't go through at least one construction zone. If I were to purchase from America's again I would pay the $80.

Not sure it would be worth it with a cheaper tire...nothing wrong with Kuhmo. Personally, I'd chance it since the rears run about $150.

Like you said, you have good roads and you will probably be driving more carefully with larger rims as well.

$42 sounds better for some Kuhmo I have them in 20inch they hold better than my mic-XGTs did in the rain.
