What wheel & tire sizes??
I am trying to decide on tire sizes for 18" wheels. I am having my car fitted with L-Tuned suspension in a week or two when parts arrive (ordered 4-3-02). What I would like to install is 245/45 in front and 264/40 or 275/40 in back. It is mostly for looks, and I don't especially like the extra-low profile tire look of 35% tires. Also, I don't want a stiff ride. I would also like to have some lip on both front and rear. I know the rears would be about 2% bigger than stock, but the speedometer reads about that much over actual anyway. My concern is whether I'll have any rubbing. Assuming I get 18x8 in front and 18x9.5 in back, how much offset can I have and still maintain necessary fender clearance? Any input will be helpful. I have already read as much as I can find here on CL but am still not sure.

Why not just do staggered 17s so you can use the tire size you want without messing with the car's engineering?
Assuming Manaray the wheel god's setup is 100% correct and maxed out with no rub...
Offset: 8" wheel +31 or +32
9.5" wheel +37
Good luck.

Staggered 17s are not worth doing IMHO.
The most common sizes for staggered for 18s are 8.5 fron and 9.5 rear. The common tire sizes are 245/40 front and 275/35 rear. You could do the 245/45 and 275/40 without a problem I'd guess.

This needs to be moved to the wheel forum!
Please do not try and use a +31 or +32 offset with 8" wheels on the front, +35 should be the lowest...... On the rear, stay close to +40 or higher w/9.5" to be safe..... Some wheels companies will have pre-determined offsets, limiting you to their specs, a select few will allow you to choose your offset...... Tiny

Tiny,
Why can't you use +32 8" wheel??
It is going to stick out less than a +38 8.5" wheel.
Late.

Bit, I agreee but I like the idea of the wrong sized tires even less.
Lexus just put too small wheel/tire combo on our cars. I would prefer 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 if they matched up with factory diameter.

The taller tires you are proposing are OE Mercedes S-Class sizes, used on the S500 AMG package and S55.
They should work fine, just don't expect quicker accelleration times!
