Default Tire size question...06 gs300

I have an 06 gs300, it initially came with the 17s which had 225/50r17s....maybe 55 series....anyhow, 225 width. I bought 18s from the gs430 and the oem tire for that is 245 40 18. The rims is an 18x8 rim, I am wondering if placing 225 45 would be OK on there ?

probably not. Your old rim is 17x7 so a 18x8 is an extra inch of rim you're not using

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking but size 225/45-18 is an approved size for an 8" wide wheel. It may look a little streched depending on the tire brand you go with but it will work. Your factory tire size is indeed 225/50-17 which makes the 225/45-18 size the same width and height.

My GS400 came with OEM 16" and I'm running 245/40-18 now. Here is a tire calculator:

225mm = 8.8 inches. You'll be fine. I run 225 r-comps on my 9" wide race wheels for my MX-5. But why not use the 245?
