Question stock GS 17's

Hey all, does anybody know how much stock 17" GS wheels weigh? I am trying to figure out how they may compare with other aftermarket 17's or maybe even lightweight 18's.

Thanks! gs4power So basically 17" SSR Integrals( 18lbs each) or OZ S..........( forgot the rest of the name) (19 lbs) would not only look better than stock 17's but would also save about 20lbs on your car overall.

You're welcome... Yes, it is feasible to have a bigger but lighter and stronger wheel....the secret is Forging.

Forging makes the material much stronger... and the wheel can use less material.

I saved about 40 lbs overall with the TE37/Toyo setup (Toyos T1-S are the lightest tires in its class) compared to the stock 17" setup...

gs4power,
Thanks for the info on the tires too!! So you are saying that your tires are 20 lbs lighter than stock, and that your rims are 20lbs lighter than stock or that your tires alone give you 40lb weight savings over stock tires?

gs4power,
Thanks for clarifying that. Now I know what I must do when I get my GS That would drop the 98-00' GS400 curb weight from 3693 to 3655lbs, the same as the 98-00' SC400's.GREAT

Talking

You guys crack me up...Thanks for the standing ovation...

ARB, you are actually saving more than you think. The mass of the wheels/tires is not equivalent to the weight of the other components in the car. This is because the wheels/tires rotate. You need about twice the energy to rotate the wheel than just to move it straight....the rule of thumb is that for every pound you save on wheels, is like saving three times as much weight elsewhere. 40 lbs saved in wheels/tires will have the same effect as 120 lbs less curb weight, in acceleration and braking.
