tire/rim upgrade question
Never done upgrading rims before and I have some questions.
If I change 17" from 16" stock, does it lose comfortness of ride?
how about 17" and 18", I keep hearing that if you drive on pothole, you really feel the bumpy road with 17" or 18".
beside the looks/style, what are the advantage and disadvantage of upgrading?
sorry it's kinda newbie question but I've been wondering.
Thank you

Upgrading wheels, in my humble opinion, is the single biggest improvement you can make to your car's apperance. However they are some pros and cons as you alluded to... As far as comfort, the reason 16"s are often softer than 17" is the tire sidewall is a lower profile. (e.g. the part of tire between the wheel and tread) The larger that area, in general, the better the ride. When the wheel sizes become larger, the tire makers bring the sidewall series (percentage of tread length) down to the diameter of the tire remains close. When that sidewall becomes smaller, a little ride quality is lost. Most people you talk to will say that the small loss in ride quality is more than made up for by the stunning looks and performance gains of a low profile tire.
