what is the max tire width I can put on 19x9 wheel
whats up.
Right now I have
245/40-19 on a 19x9 wheel
the tire is slighly higher than it should be for my car. GS400
I was considering 255/35-19
as per the tire size calculators such a tire would be for a 19x9.5- 10 wheel.
Has anyone put such a tire on such a wheel.
what would be the problem.
thanks

According to most tire manufacturers specs you can run a 275 on anything between a 9" - 11" rim, so a 255 will more than fit the 9" rim easily. The 255/35/19 you are looking at has an rim width range of 8.5" - 10". Just look up the tire specs at the manufacturers website or Tirerack and it will tell you what approved rim sizes are for the particular brand and model tire you want to use.

Hey CK....
I am considering the 265's but I think they will rub. As of now the 245's seem like they are just making it. what do you think.
should I just stick with the 255's or just go for the 265's
thanks

I can't say if it will rub or not. It all depends on your rims offset, how low you are, how much negative camber you have and such. I'm running 275 in the rear of my car, lowered about 2", about negative 1 degree camber at most, and don't rub with no fender mods at all yet. But my offset is pretty conservative. I even put a 15MM spacer on my rims for an effective offset of +33 and I don't rub with a 9.5" rims. Anyway if you think the 265 will rub go with the 255. These are my daily driver rims so everything was kept conservative. My other set I'll space it out more aggressively for the better looks

on stock 2IS's the rear wheels are 8.5 and they run 255/35/18 stock.
And the rim is still sticking out enough to get curbed haha. So there should be no problem with a 265 on a 9.
