Default I need some pro comments on tire Fitment

Hi I have a second gen GS, my friend gave me a pair of tires for the 18" g-spyder that I just bought, they are 255/45/18 , the side wall is slightly bigger than the recommanded 245/40/18.

Then I saw a pair of 245/40/18 tires on sale on craigslist so I was going to grab it so I have a whole set.

now the questions are :

1. Will the 255/45/18 tires fit the back with stock height?

2. Does it matter the back is higher than the front ? ( sidewall ) will it bring any side effect like worse mpg ?

3. Should I just find a matching size pair instead ? ( make it 255/45/18 all around )

Thanks !

although the 255/45's will fit, they will be a little more than 1" taller than stock... This can affect the speedometer, traction control, and ABS systems, if equipped. It may change fuel mileage, though you probably wouldn't notice it (the new mileage would be calculated on an incorrect speedometer and odometer). Your tire sizes on a normal RWD vehicle should be within 3% diameter all the way around... That difference between 255/45 and 245/40 is 5%, which is quite high.

It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it... and 255/45-18 would be a tight fit up front anyways...

Hi, Similar Qn.

91 LS400, Recomended size 205/65/15. Has trac and abs.

Is is ok to put 205/70/15 in front and 205/65/15 in back? Will my trac go crazy? All 4 are Toyo 800 Ultra.

Same thing, not a good idea... trac lights will come on, abs will not work properly...
