Default Tire recommendation...

Can I get some recommendations on tire sizes for my wheel setup?
I have 17x9.5 +15 all around and my car is lowered close to 2". I was thinking of going with a Federal 595 tire- 235/40 on the front and 255/40 in the rear. How does this tire setup sound? This is for a SC300.

I'll rephrase the question.

How does 235/40-F and 255/40-R play in relation to tire height? Is this an ideal set up?

235/40 and 245/40 is almost identical. 245/40 is only 4 mm taller than the other one. If you were running the same width rim I'd just match all 4 together. Keeps all the tires running the same and you'll be able to rotate them too.

In the first post you said 255/40 do you mean 255?

235/45 and 265/40 are the best sizes to run on that vehicle but your wheel offset is kinda low.

if I had that car and some normal offset 17" wheels, I'd be runnin 255/40-17 and 285/40-17

but it's obvious not everyone wants a wide tire...

So, what would happen if I ran a 235/40 and 255/40? The speedometer would be thrown off?

yes, and there is a possibility the ABS and/or traction control if so equipped could have some problems... mine (ABS only) has had no adverse effects with the slight difference in front to rear tire diameters... OE tire diameter is 25.74" 255/40-17 is 25.03"

your speedometer will be 3% fast... you will be travelling 3% slower than your speedometer indicates... this is pretty damn negligible really...

Well I don't want to throw off my speedometer by 3%, so how about 235/45 and 245/40?

The only 17" sizes I can think of off top of my head that are the same diameter as stock (with .1") are 245/45-17, 275/40-17 and 225/50-17

245/40 is shorter than 255/40, so its for sure a no go for you...

235/45-17 is 25.33" diameter, so it would only be 1.5% difference...
