Default Tires with better handling for snow..........

Hi,

I have a 06' Lexus LS 430 and would like to buy better tires for handling in bad weather like snow and rain, all year round. My car currently has 17" Alloy Wheels w/225/55R17 H-Rated Tires.

Any suggestion greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
J.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS
Goodyear Eagle GT
Firestone Firehawk GT
Kumho ASX
BFGoodrich Traction T/A
Fuzion VRI

any of those would be good all season tires...

Your size is kinda hard though... If it were my car, I'd change to a 235/50-17 and go to a Bridgestone RE960AS...

Thanks!

Do I lose any benefits for going to 235/50-17 Bridgestone RE960AS ???
I plan to buy Bridgestone because I feel they’re the best tire for all year round seasons like snow and rain.

Out of the list you provided which tires are the best?

Thanks Again,
Jay

the benefit you will lose is some handling in snow. The wider the tire, the worse they are in snow. Wide tires will plow through snow and your handling will suffer as opposed to skinnier tires which will slice through the snow rather than plow and try to ride up on the snow. At what point is a tire considered wide vs skinny is a good question. If I can get the same tire in a 225 or a 235 width and it is going to see snow, then I would go with the lesser of the two, the 225.

If you get more than a little snow, just get another set of rims, you'll be glad you did! I run Dunlop Winter Sport M3s, and they are AMAZING! We had a big storm here yesterday and everyone was having a hard time getting up a hill near my house, but not me!
