Question time to change tires - any advice?

Finally after 30k on my original run-flats, they have to go!!! At the service today got a green flag from dealership that tires are finally worn out. Since I put about 100 miles a day on a highway and also on East Coast were we get a decent amount of snow and ice, decided to go with grand touring all-season option. Going down the list of a few recommend tirerack tires, I'm not sure why 225/45-17 made a list (like Potenza RE960) since our standard size is 225/50-17. Wouldn't there be a difference since overall diameter will decrease?

Narrowing it down to the exact require size, I came up with Goodyear Response Edge. They seem to be 4th rated, get about 55k, and very reasonably priced at $136 each minus $10 rebate. Anybody has any experience with these, pro or con? Are there any other tires you can recommend me? I'm really looking for longevity, performance, and also road handling in snow/rain. I do know how to use search button, but seems that a lot of posts in the forum about people just getting one or having experience on previous car. I haven’t found too many responses about long term driving on 3GS AWD and subsequent recommendation.

Oh, and since I was "lucky" enough to have runflats and no spare with my 3GS, any recommendations where to get a spare tire/wheel kit? Dealership charging arm'n'leg for that

I have never seen someone so happy when their tires wear out before Before I tarded in my GS, I was going to replace the runfalts when they waer out with Good Year eagle F1 all season. They are quiet, perform well and very good in the snow for a performance tire.

I replaced my run-flats immediately when I bought the car. I bought The Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 tires. So far so Good. I went with the quietest all-season tire Michelin had for this car. I have driven this car for 2 winters in Minnesota and it handles the snow superbly. I have got 25K on the tires and are supposed to last to 50K. Very Quiet - No complaints.

Took me about a half hour to find my post to you. I found it in this obscure forum. Good luck on anyone else seeing it?
