Need Tires For GS430 Wheels....
I have a 2000 GS4 Platinum. I bought some 17” GS430 7 spoke chrome wheels yesterday. I have 225/55/16’s on there now….and the sticker for 17” on the car is 235/45/17….which is a weird size and does not match the overall diameter. So I am going to put on 245/45/17’s. I want a nice comfortable tire. I don’t drive it in the winter, but I want something that is not noisy and rides nice. I already have a sports car on the side so I don’t need anything ultra sticky and super high performance. What do you guys recommend for this size.

I wasn't aware that the 235/45/17 was that strange a size as it was the factory upgrade as 1Sick said.
I have given up the notion that you can turn a Lexus into a bimmer with tires and have gone for quiet. I have been through most every tire you can mention but I won't consider the performance lines anymore. The Pilot is a great tire but it is definitely a high performance tire and the best high performance tire in the world will ride harsher and be noisier than probably the worst touring tire. I got so fed up with the last hipo try (Goodyear F1 GS D3 or whatever the heck they were) due to the noise that I didn't even want to drive the car towards the end. If you think I am kidding, I can give you the name of the manager of an "America's Tire Co" store that I use about the tires I have been through on this car.
Latest swap was for Bridgestone Turanza Serenity. I have a couple of thousand miles on them and they are maybe the quietest tires I have had yet. Any tire is quiet when it is new but the hipo tires start howling very quickly. I can't vouch for how long these will last but the noise is very good. Ride is OK. I have Bilstein Sports and TRD blues and it is the ride I prefer so you need to keep in mind that I am still oriented more toward handling. But the noise just drove me f'ing crazy. No more hipo tires for me on this car.

You guys are all complaining about noise on a directional tire... it's gonna happen - that tire is always going to spin one direction, and no matter how many front to back rotations, or even dismount and remount on opposite side of the car rotations you do, that tire will always spin one direction causing feathering, cupping, uneven wear... Every directional tire does this to some degree...
You are better off with an asymmetrical tire so that you can do proper rotations (cross the non drive tires to the opposite axle)... This will give the tire a chance to wear properly... As mentioned already, the Turanza Serenity is a asymmetrical tire, and properly maintained will be as quiet with 30-40k miles on it, as it will be new...
