need help with tire size

i want too go wider but dont know how wide i can go i have 18x8.5 i have a set of 245-40r18 can some one tell me how wide i can go

With that 8.5in wheel you can safely go to a 255, anything bigger and you'll need to go to a 9 or 9.5 in wheel. Are you looking to stagger the car?

I have IS wheels that are 18*8 and 18"*8.5 in the rear i did 255-40-18 that was as big as i could go. Trust me i wanted to go bigger but thats it. Hope this helps.
