tire width and snow traction
hi everyone,
i just bought a 2008 is350 that came with 18x8 front and 18.8.5 rear staggered wheels. winter time is creeping up and i'm in market to buy a set of wheels to put blizzaks tires on. my wife and i are expecting a baby so safety is a top priority. i was talking to my friend who's into cars and he was telling me that thinner tires and lower diameter (tire width and diameter wise) have more traction than thicker and higher diameter tires. Is this true? If so is it better to get 17x8 all around than staggered 18's wheels? thanks for your help.
sincerely,
pmthk

Narrower with a taller profile is better then wider with a lower profile. It looks like the best bet for the ultimate in snow and ice traction for this car is our 17 inch winter tire and wheel package with the Blizzak WS-60 225/45 17 front and 225/50 17 rear. The wheel are Sport Edition A7 17 x 7.5 front and rear, the price is $1390 with sensors included or $1022 without the sensors.
