Default 1pc or 3pc wheels??

is there any advantages or disadvantages to either wheel? the 3 piece wheel is usually way more expensive and also seems like it weighs less as well. and from what ive been told, (god forbid) if you curb or bend a 3pc wheel, you can have it sent out and have the barrel replaced at a fraction of the cost of a new wheel so thats cool!

what about strength? is either wheel stronger? is the 3pc more prone to failure? is it ok to use a 3pc wheel on a daily driver?

what about sizing or offsets?? is it easier to get a wheel with the lip and offset you desire when using 3pc?

lemme know what you all think!

forged wheels are stronger and lighter than most cast wheels.3 pc wheels are absolutely more prone to issues down the line. Many of the forged wheels on the market are 3pc, but not all. 3pc look is popular and has the look with the rivets around the rims edge. I has a personal 3 pc wheel nightmare and I wont go down that road again. Especially for the price of the wheels

Three piece wheels are expensive no doubt, but they are also built for your exact application. Three piece wheel (ours) are 100% hub centric, which means no centering rings and no vibration. 3 Piece wheels are actually forged out of 6061 Aluminum (ours) which is super strong compared to a cast wheel. Lets say you bent a cast wheel, you most likely have to throw it out, with a 3 piece wheel, you bend the lip, the wheel gets taken appart and a new lip installed. And you back on the road. I currently have 3 piece wheels on my personal daily driver GS350 (20's), as well as my wife's Tahoe (24's) we have had zero issues with the wheels. The Tahoe even tows a 28 ft boat with 3 piece wheels and low profile tires.

When using a 3 piece wheel, you can have the wheels tailored to the offset and fitment you want. Not possible with cast wheels. Thats why you see many 1 piece wheel, have issues with fitment and rubbing and tires sticking out.. it all in the proper offset.
I have had cast wheels and 3 piece wheels on all my cars.. I would go no other way than 3 piece wheels. I would also consider a one piece forged.. but also have the same problem with bending.
hope this helps.

of coarse its possible.....but most likely more cost effective and quicker to just buy another 1 piece.

3 piece often jump more in offset though, since each peice picks up a few mm so you end up with say 10mm jumps in offset rather than 5mm or whatever. i had this when trying to choose offsets for my VS-XX on my last car.

they were also pretty damn heavy haha

a 1 piece cast 19" or 20" generally go for what ? 200 to 300 ? a barrel (inner or outer) cost something around ? ? I dunno, numbers don't really check out.
