Widest tire on a 8.5 wheel?

I am looking to buy G35 19" rims. The rear rims are 8.5" wide with a 33offset. What is the widest tire I can put on there without having a safety problem? Stock tire specs are 245/40, can I put a 255/35 or a 265/35 on there?

You could probably do 255's, but more than that is going to create a distorted side wall.
